On June 19th, 2014, SHIELDS clients, staff, and collaborative partners enjoyed a day of music, food, education, banners, and more in a celebration of Juneteenth, the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.

Clients Advocate for Child Welfare Reform

On June 10th, 2014, clients made signs, loaded buses, and attended the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors meeting to show their support of the recommendations to reform the child welfare system made by the Blue Ribbon Commission on Child Protection.
